This was race number 3 of the Grand Prix Series this weekend, and it was one of those race that i was all smiles!
This is one of those Kodak moments. A moment that i will enlarge, print on canvas and hang it as a reminder that i can do it!
They say things happen in 3 and that is exactly what happen.
1) It was a no wetsuit swim - to my advantage
Well in fact, an advantage to all good swimmers because when everyone wears
a wetsuit, it levels the playing field and helps the less technical swimmers.
2) The bike course was hilly - to my advantage here once again.
There is a reason why i have polka dots on my bike.
3) MAGIC
No other real reason why this occurred but luck and some fairy dust magic.
After all these years in this sport, i finally caught Edie. She is the Iron Women Machine and can she race fast! I believe she was on the National Team for both triathlon and cycling. And she might as well be on the National Team for swimming because she is just a torpedo in the water! Oh, did i say she is in the age group 55 - 60? I want to be just like Edie when i "grow up". She has done SO much for the community of triathlon and i respect her so much! She is just an amazing person on and off the racing circuit.
Here is the famous finish line picture, digging deep to give my all.
Thank you very much to Jane Matthews, Race Director for the Kenora Borealis triathlon on Sunday and all the spectacular volunteers. It was a wonderful morning with a record number of participants!
